- 3 cups of puffed rice
- 1/2 cup of peanuts
- 1/2 cup of roasted chana dal
- 1/4 cup of cashews
- 1/4 cup of raisins
- 1/4 cup of dried coconut flakes
- 1 tsp of mustard seeds
- 1 tsp of cumin seeds
- 2-3 dried red chilies
- 10-12 curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp of red chili powder
- 2 tbsp of oil
- Salt to taste
Equipment
- A large mixing bowl
- A frying pan
- A slotted spoon
- A plate lined with paper towels
Method
- Heat a frying pan over low heat and dry roast the puffed rice for 2-3 minutes. Transfer it to a mixing bowl.
- In the same pan, add 1 tbsp of oil and fry the peanuts, roasted chana dal, cashews, raisins, and coconut flakes until they turn golden brown. Transfer them to the mixing bowl.
- In the same pan, add another tbsp of oil and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dried red chilies, and curry leaves. Fry until the mustard seeds start to pop.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the pan and mix well.
- Turn off the heat and add the fried mixture to the mixing bowl. Mix well until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Let the mixture cool down to room temperature.
- Store the Puffed Rice Chivda in an airtight container and enjoy it anytime you want.
Notes
- You can add any other nuts or seeds of your choice to the mixture.
