Ingredients

  • 2 cups of rice
  • 1 lb. of beef, sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 carrot, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar

Equipment

  • Wok or large skillet
  • Cooking spoon
  • Cooking pot

Method

  1. Wash the rice and set aside.
  2. Heat up a cooking pot and add 3 cups of water.
  3. Add the washed rice to the pot and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low and let the rice cook for 20 minutes.
  5. In a wok or large skillet, heat up the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  6. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned.
  7. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the wok/skillet and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  8. Add the sliced bell peppers and sliced carrots to the wok/skillet and stir-fry for 5 minutes.
  9. Add the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the wok/skillet.
  10. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  11. Serve the mixed rice with the stir-fried vegetables and beef over the cooked rice.

Notes

  • You can use any type of rice for this recipe, but white rice works best.
  • You can add more vegetables or meat to the dish to your liking.
