Method

  1. Wash the rice in a bowl until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat ghee in a cooking pot. Add sliced onions, green chili, chopped garlic, and ginger. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.
  3. Add cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and cumin seeds. Saute for a couple of minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the soaked rice to the pot and saute for a few minutes until the rice turns translucent.
  5. Add 3 cups of water and salt to taste. Stir well.
  6. Transfer the rice mixture to a rice cooker and cook until the rice is done.
