Description

Ingredient

For the rolls:
  • 1 cup puffed rice
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Water, as needed
For the filling:
  • 2 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt, as needed
  • 1 tablespoon oil

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Frying pan
  • Rolling pin

Method

1. In a mixing bowl, add puffed rice, all-purpose flour, salt, and red chili powder. Mix well. 2. Add water, little by little, and knead the mixture into a dough. 3. In another pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. 4. Add mashed potatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well. 5. Turn off the heat and let the filling cool down. 6. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. 7. Roll out each ball into a thin circle. 8. Place a small amount of the filling in the center of the circle. 9. Fold the sides of the circle to cover the filling and roll into a cylindrical shape. 10. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling. 11. In a frying pan, heat oil. 12. Fry the rolls until they are golden brown. 13. Serve hot with your favorite chutney.

  • You can adjust the spice level according to your taste.
  • Make sure that the filling is cooled down before filling the rolls.
  • You can also add chopped vegetables to the filling.
