Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 cup urad dal flour

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, add rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add water gradually to make a smooth and runny batter. Whisk well to remove any lumps.
  3. Cover the bowl with a lid and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or a dosa tawa on medium-high heat.
  5. Pour a ladleful of batter on the hot skillet and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin dosa.
  6. Add a few drops of oil around the edges of the dosa and on top of it.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the edges start to turn brown and the top is cooked.
  8. Flip the dosa using a spatula and cook for another minute on the other side.
  9. Remove the dosa from the skillet and serve hot with chutney, sambar or any other side dish.
  10. Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more dosas.

Notes

  • If you don't have urad dal flour, you can grind urad dal in a mixer grinder to make the flour.
  • You can add chopped onions, green chillies, coriander leaves or any other vegetables of your choice to the batter to make the dosa more flavourful.
  • Make sure the skillet is hot before pouring the batter. Otherwise, the dosa will stick to the skillet.
