Method
- In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, asafoetida, turmeric powder, melted butter, and salt. Mix well.
- Add water as needed and knead the mixture into a smooth dough.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Meanwhile, fill the murukku press with the dough.
- Press the dough through the murukku press and form into spirals directly into the hot oil.
- Fry the murukku until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from the oil using a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
- Allow the murukku to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying the murukku. If the oil is not hot enough, the murukku will absorb too much oil and become soggy.
